My experience has taught me that the more instructors philosophise, the more they stuff classes with mambo-jumbo pseudo-Japanese metaphysics, the less they speak to you in plain English from their heart, the less they are really there for you as human beings and teachers (or fellow traveler).
I may not know anything about what Deguchi Onisaburo or Nakamura Kempu said. I may not be in the least interested in the art of Japanese sword-forging on Jupiter in the 3rd century BC, but I’m all yours on the mat.
Do I have many students? Absolutely not…
Non è che alcuni di noi hanno l’aiki in tasca e altri no, ma forse è questione di come ci si pone rispetto a quello che stiamo facendo.

La mia esperienza mi ha insegnato che più l’insegnante filosofeggia, più imbottisce le lezioni di metafisica strampalata giapponesiana, meno ti parla in italiano con il cuore e meno c’è davvero per te come uomo e come maestro (o compagno di strada).
Io potrei non saper nulla di quello che ha detto Deguchi Onisaburo o Nakamura Kempu, o potrebbe non interessarmi un tubo dell’arte della forgiatura della spada giapponese su Giove nel III sec aC, ma sul tatami sono tutto tuo.
Ho tanti allievi? Assolutamente NO…
