Real Aikido

It is not that some of us have Aiki in our pockets and others do not, but perhaps it is a question of how we place ourselves in relation to what we are doing

My experience has taught me that the more an instructor philosophizes, the more he stuffs classes with mambo-jumbo pseudo-Japanese metaphysics, the less he speaks to you in plain English with his heart, the less he is really there for you as a human being and a teacher (or fellow traveler).

I may not know anything about what Deguchi Onisaburo or Nakamura Kempu said, or I may not be interested in the least in the art of Japanese sword-forging on Jupiter in the 3rd century BC, but I’m all yours on the mat.

Do I have many students? Absolutely not…

Ho tanti allievi? Assolutamente NO…

Aikido Italia Network is one of the main Aikido and Budo sites in Italy and beyond. Researching and creating content for this virtual Aiki temple of ours requires a lot of time and resources. If you can, when you are finished reading one of our articles, donate € 1.00 to Aikido Italia Network. It is a very small contribution, but we would accept it with gratitude. If you don’t want to do it, it’s okay. Aikido Italia Network is and will always remain free and we will always be delighted to have you here. Thanks!
