Ki Society HQ: Messaggio Dopo la Scomparsa di Tohei Sensei

Today the Aikido world has lost its most important figure since O’Sensei himself. Koichi Tohei has passed away. A huge loss for Aikido

Dear Chief Instructors,

We regret to inform you that Koichi Tohei Sensei passed away at 9:14 this morning. He was 91 years old.

Two weeks ago, he had sense of discomfort on his chest and it was found that he had inflammation of the lungs, so he had been receiving treatment. He went to intensive-care unit (ICU) twice and came back to general ward each time with his strength of Ki, however, his heart got weak little by little this morning and passed away.

After discussion in his family and it was decided that the closed funeral will be held within his family including Shinichi Tohei Sensei and the formal funeral for all members will be held in Tokyo some weeks later for those who would like to be present.

The date and place of the formal funeral will be announced to all of you after decided.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience but would appreciate your kind understanding for the above.

Caro Responsabile di Dojo,

Siamo spiacenti di informarti che Koichi Tohei Sensei è morto alle 9:14 di questa mattina. Aveva 91 anni.

Due settimane fa aveva avvertito dei dolori al petto e gli era stata diagnosticata un’infiammazione polmonare, che era stata conseguentemente trattata. Si è recato per due volte presso un’unità di terapia intensiva ed entrambe le volte è tornato al reparto generale con la sua forza del Ki, tuttavia questa mattina il suo cuore si è a poco indebolito e si è spento.

La sua famiglia ha deciso che i funerali si terranno in forma privata per i membri della famiglia, tra cui Shinichi Tohei Sensei, mentre il funerale ufficiale per tutti i membri si terrà a Tokyo qualche settimana più tardi e sarà aperto a tutti quelli che vorranno essere presenti.

La data e il luogo del funerale formale verranno annunciati a tutti voi appena una decisione al proposito sarà stata raggiunta. Siamo molto spiacenti per l’inconveniente, ma gradiremmo la vostra comprensione per quanto sopra esposto.
